6 things you may have missed in the Avengers: Endgame trailer

By Sam Edelstein

The long awaited trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame is finally here. But did you catch these 6 things while watching the trailer? Let’s take a look.

WARNING: This article contains possible spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

#1: How lost is Tony Stark?

The end of Avengers: Infinity War left Tony Stark stranded on the planet Titan. In this screengrab we see Mr. Stark traveling through space all alone. Some fans online have speculated that Tony is so far away that the star system circled in the picture above is actually the Milky Way. This would mean that Tony really is lost in the middle of nowhere. In the trailer, Mr. Stark records a voice message into his Iron Man helmet to his fiancé, Pepper Potts. He says that there is “zero promise of rescue.” This may actually be referring to the comic book character Rescue, who really is Pepper Potts. Will Pepper be the one who rescues Tony? We’ll have to wait until April to find out.

#2: Shuri’s Fate

The end of Avengers: Infinity War left audiences stunned to find many of their favorite characters vanish into thin air. One of these characters, Shuri, the princess of Wakanda, was not shown to have died on screen in Infinity War. But the Endgame trailer seems to imply she may have been snapped. In this screengrab we see Bruce Banner looking at a screen of missing people and one person who comes up is Shuri. Now this doesn’t mean she is dead, she’s just missing. On top of that Marvel is known to change the content of their trailers so they’re different than the actual movies, so maybe Marvel edited this scene just for the trailer and Shuri is actually doing just fine.

#3: Thano’s Armor

This image is straight from the Infinity Gauntlet comics which Avengers: Infinity War is based off of. After Thanos snaps his finger, he retires and becomes a farmer. He puts up his armor for good and uses it as a scarecrow. In the comics, the scarecrow plays an important role as the only company Thanos has. It may play a similar role in Endgame. Note that the Infinity Gauntlet is not placed on the scarecrow. Thanos has kept it on his hand, either because it is physically bonded to it or he just can’t separate himself from it.

#4: Ronin

After he was noticeably missing from Infinity War, Hawkeye is back in the Endgame trailer. But this time he’s taking on a different persona- Ronin. The trailer shows Black Widow finding Hawkeye in some foreign country, wearing his Ronin outfit and carrying a katana. In one comic series, Hawkeye becomes Ronin after his family is murdered. We may be able to assume that the Thanos snap killed some -or all- of Hawkeye’s family, causing him to take on this new, dark, persona.

#5: The Return of Ant-Man

Scott Lang was absent in Avengers: Infinity War and was last seen in Ant-Man and the Wasp traveling into Quantum Realm. Viewers of the Endgame trailer were pleasantly surprised to see Scott Lang reappear at the Avenger’s headquarters. This means Ant-Man somehow found his way out of the Quantum Realm and is ready to join the fight and undo the damage that Thanos caused. The Quantum Realm may be the key to doing it.

#6: Peggy Carter

One moment that may have seemed out of place in the new trailer was when Captain America looks at a picture of his long time lover Peggy Carter. There have been rumors going around that the Avengers will need to go back in time to prevent what Thanos has caused. For Cap, this may mean going back to the early 1900’s and finding Peggy. Once again, we’ll have to wait until April to find out if this is true.

Marvel fans are very excited for Avengers: Endgame. Let us know if you catched anything else in this first trailer to one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2019.
